This article is under the assumption that you currently understand what Search Engine Optimization is and why it is very important. It also goes into great detail describing the On Page factors of SEO. There are three factors listed below.
1. It is essential that you use meta tag descriptions and keywords
For each page that your website contains you will need to have unique meta tags. Meta tags are codes of HTML that are between tags close to the top of the Web page when viewing the HTML code.
For the keywords meta tag create a comma-separated list of keywords relevant to your site. Keywords don't have to be single words. They can, and should, be keyword phrases relevant to the content of that page.
For a descriptive meta tag you should try describing your website that would attract people to click the link going to your page. Search engines will use meta tag descriptions for the text that describes what your website is about. However, this does not just benefit the search engine itself since it is very likely people will see it and click on the link to your Website instead of another one. This will aid to advancing your SEO.
2. Anywhere your Website contains images make sure it has an alt tag.
The HTML code for including an image in your page has an optional attribute called the 'alt' tag. It's short for 'alternative text'. It was originally intended as a text description to aid viewers surfing with images turned off or using a screen reader so they could get an idea of what an image was about, since they couldn't see it. But search engines also use the alt tag to find out more about what your page is about.
Any alt tags that contain keywords need to relate to your site and the images they describe. Rather than just putting in "header" for the alt tag image header you can take the chance to talk about what your website is about. For example, try something like "Dog Training Header", if your web page is about training dogs. It is wise not to overdo this but be direct and to the point so you have better SEO.
3. Be smart when using your header tags
The header tags H1, H2, H3 etc. are used by search engines to figure out what the important keywords for your site are. You can easily change the appearance of the header tags by using stylesheets, so try to use the standard HTML header tags instead of custom styles for your headers. Then just make sure you've got relevant keywords in the headers. The H1 header should contain the primary keyword for your page, the H2 header should contain the secondary keywords for your page, etc.
Only a small basis has been covered about on page SEO in the article you see here. However, this is a great way to start improving your site and SEO. Now all you have to do in the SEO process is to get good back links to your page.
